Hey mom and dad,
So I haven't gone to Sofia yet...They decided to postpone our passport work until the end of April when we have Sister's Conference. We were all pretty bummed about that, because we were getting really excited to go to Sofia. However we are really excited for Sister's Conference!! All of the Sisters in the mission are going to get together and do activities and what not with each other and President Roth and his wife! We are all very excited! That will be April 29th-May 1st. That's the main big thing that we are all looking forward to.
Other than that I am pretty happy Easter is over...I know it sounds kinda bad. Easter was yesterday for us and it was good. The only thing is that everything this past week has been closed here because of it. Also I think when Easter and Christmas come around that's when people actually go to church and pretend they believe in something and so people would just come up to our faces(while contacting) and say mean things and then say GO HOME. So this past week was pretty bad compared to normal...even though normally we get things said to us a few times a week, this past week we got it multiple times a day. That's when I just laugh and rub it off. So things have been going good. They have this funny tradition here where they hardboil tons of eggs and then you get an egg and go around and hit other people's eggs and whoevers egg doesn't crack is supposed to get health all year.
Other than that things have been pretty normal... just missionary work :) Oh yeah and we are getting a different apartment that is closer to the church so that is nice!!
Well I hope you have a great week!
Love you,
Jodi

Hey Mom and Dad,
It's good to hear that you had a fun time in Canada! Things are going well here with me. My new companion Sister Tate is from South Jordan, UT. She is really nice and fun to be around. She has been here in Bulgaria for about 6 months now. Right now there are only 8 sisters in Bulgaria. Howver by the middle of summer there should be 14. That's when I will be training because I will be one of the "older ones"...even though I will still be very young in my mission.
It has been so nice here weather wise however, the past couple days have been stormy. It will be sunny and warm outside and then all of a sudden a down pour of rain and huge gusts of wind and it gets freezing cold. It's pretty cool though.
We didn't go into Sofia today so we are thinking that we will probably go next week. I was able to watch conference, well the saturrday sessions yesterday for church but it was in bulgarian. So I didnt really undersatnd what anyone talked about. I will just have to wait until we get the printed talks in the Liahona.
That's pretty cool that you got to watch the show on Bulgaria. They probably only filmed the "nice" parts of Bulgaria. Yeah Keith is right on that one...anyone would be smiling if you were being followed around by some Americans with cameras! They gotta have a show where they have a hidden camera and go to small towns like the one I am in. That would be interesting! About the bulgarian...it's hard to say how it is coming...you should ask be in 6 months. Right now I am focusing on my foundation of the language. Learning this language is hard for me. But everyone here (in the mission...well and actually a few natives) have complimented me on my language skills for how long I have been in country. So who knows??
Anyway...nothing much has happened this week. I hope you had a good Easter. It's weird because Easter here in Bulgaria is this coming Sunday. So I have been getting a lot of Happy Easters...but it's not Easter yet...here. Anyway, I can't wait to get the package! I will let you know when I get it.
I hope you guys have a great week!
I love you.
Love, Jodi

April 2nd 2012
Hey Mom and Dad,
Have I been able to ride on any other smelly buses lately... Yes. Smelly buses for me now is an everyday occurance. The buses here are pretty cheap. Yeah, they have trains but it adds around 3 hours to your travel time because they are really slow. So we usually take a bus. We took this really nice bus to Sofia last monday. It was huge and they even served drinks! However on the way back we got a small smelly one and thats when I realized I am kinda tall... especially when my knees are squished behind the seat in front of me...but it makes for some good laughs.
Sofia was fun. We got there and slept in an extra apt the mission has by the mission home. Woke up and did passport work for about 10 mins and then took a bus home. Around 10 hours of traveling for 10 mins...kinda funny! Although before we went to Sofia we went up the mountain and that was way fun! We found this old building (communist) and saw all these different torture chambers...pretty creepy.
The rest of the week was pretty normal. Although on friday we got transfer calls! I was so nervous about getting transfer calls. It was hard for me to eat and sleep. I found out that I will be staying in Sliven but will get a new companion named Sister Tate. I am sad because I loved being with Sister Child but I am happy to meet and have fun with Sister Tate.
It was way sad having to say goodbye to our district! We worked so well together! Oh well, I know that things will be great for this upcoming transfer too.
Today was Elder Olmstead's birthday! (He is an Elder in my district) So we attempted at making him a cake...it's a bit harder here because they don't have anything for birthdays here....they don't really celebrate birthdays here. So no frosting, candles...etc. So we got really creative. It was pretty fun though!
I just found out that for transfers I have to travel back to Sofia to get my companion (sis Tate) because she will be there for passport work and then get on a bus and come right back... They do this so that no one travels alone. So Sister Child will be coming with me and getting here companion (my old one Sis. Campbell) and then go to Stars zagora. Crazy huh? Lots of traveling but it's fun.
Anyway... congratulations are in order! Great job DAD!!! That's so AWESOME!!!!!!!! I am so happy. That's incredible!!! WOW! Keep it up! You've got this!!! I hope you guys win!!! You deserve it!! :)
Well I hope you have a fun spring break in Canada...original...haha. Tell me about it...get me a souveneir and send it to me!!
I love You!!!!!
Love, Jodi
p.s. I'm glad conference was so good! Sadly I don't get to see it for a couple weeks...but I am sure it will be great! I love you both so much
